Man, the marching band director must be my kind of guy. That was super awesome, can't wait to pass it on. It was hard to see all of the shapes through one pass through, but if someone has has the routine written somewhere, I'd like to read along while watching again. Let me know if Cal does anymore video game themed shows.

That was great. It would be really sweet if there was an over-head top-down view which most likely would make all the shapes snap into view.

How do they form complex shapes? They can't see the shapes. Perhaps they just memorize where to stand somehow or in relation to others. Who then is/are the anchor points? Hmmm...

They take weeks, if not months, to practice some of the routines, but you definitely have to be adept at marching in directions other than forward to be in the Cal Band.

Some of the people have reference points and lines to guide them — they are on a football field, after all — while the others memorize their positions in relation to others. The music helps with the timing.

Clearly, a lot of planning and coordination went into this one. This performance is getting them kudos from all over the internet now!
