As most sites I went to put it, "Hell has frozen over, and wishes do come true."
It's just a teaser trailer with no actual gameplay. Capcom hasn't evenannounced the style of play or which studio will be designing, but there is an actual officical website.

It's been a long time since I updated. I usually update once a year, but I
missed the mark. I figured I should update before everything goes to zero....

What do you think we'll see in the game?
Not sure what I'm expecting from Capcom, but I agree with the many wishlists out there to keep the "Street Fighter" line 2D. I put the quotes around, as there is a 3D line called EX, but all other versions of Street Fighter have been 2D. If they design around the teaser trailer, it looks like they may add more reversals in combos. That adds to extra gameplay, but I've seen this take bad paths in other games. In other words, the original was good because you weren't allowed to make mistakes, and momentum was key in a match. The introduction of one button escapes in some games have made those games die out or become one dimensional or dull.
Either way, I hope they use the SF3 brand as a model to follow, a lot of the 2D fighting community hold it in high regards for the amount of gameplay from almost any character, making the player the biggest factor, not the character.
It sounds like Capcom is in a tough spot if it wants to come up with something new but also keep most fans happy.
Would anyone be satisfied if the game was basically 3rd Strike but with a different style of graphics and a different character lineup?
I wonder if Capcom will go to some of the top players like the ones at Evo and get their opinions about the gameplay. I suppose they have their own in-house experts too, though.
Interesting stuff!
